Meditation can very easily become an ego trip, and the only way to avoid this is to preserve the dimension of glorification in meditation.

There are many different ways to meditate. This is the simplest and the easiest to start with.

  • Sit comfortably. A quiet place is preferred, but not required.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Take a few deep breaths, all the way down to your abdomen, slowly exhale. Sit for a few minutes to allow your heart and breathing to slow down.  Continue focusing on and regulating your breath.
  • Gently bring your attention to a special word... any word that you feel drawn to... love, peace, strength, etc.  or select an Asma-e-Husna.  Breathe in the word... breathing in its quality... ie: feel its quality.
You may be drawn to a different word each day... when you are attuned to yourself you will get a sense of what word you need.
  • Allow your thoughts and feelings to come and go with detachment. Don't try to control them in any way. Just note them, and when you realize that you are not repeating the word, gently return to the word. Do not try to force yourself to think the word to the exclusion of all other thoughts.
  • Meditate for 10 - 20 minutes.
  • When done, take a few minutes to slowly return to normal awareness.

Meditation is simple awareness, nothing else.  It is the time to connect to our inner Source and let go of the things and roles we get caught up in: work, parenting, worries and concerns.

Meditation takes practice, consistency and patience.

 Meditation Benefits:

Everyone knows that a happy life requires good health. Proper diet, adequate exercise, and sufficient rest are necessary to keep our bodies strong and fit. If we neglect these demands, our bodies become weakened and resistant. Highly susceptible to infection, we eventually become ill.

More important, but less well known, is the inner self's need for spiritual nourishment and attention. If we ignore our spiritual health
requirements, we become overwhelmed by negative material tendencies like anxiety, hatred, loneliness, prejudice, greed, boredom, envy, and anger.

Research has shown that Meditation can contribute to an individual's psychological and physiological well-being. This is accomplished as Meditation brings the brainwave pattern into an alpha state, which is a level of consciousness that promotes the healing state. There is scientific evidence that Meditation can improve blood pressure and relieve pain and stress.
